THE SOUND OF THE FUTURE IS “SOUND OF GREEN”
As one of North Macedonia's most significant partners in natural resource management, the Embassy of Switzerland, in collaboration with Pakomak and Makstil, is organizing the Sound of Green festival this Friday (30.08.2024) at the Youth Cultural Center (MCC). The event will kick off at 19:00 with the opening of an exhibition titled "CleanTech - Swiss Solutions for Protecting the Environment." This exhibition will showcase innovative solutions in waste management, sustainable agriculture, conservation of natural resources, and the application of circular economy principles in water management. Some of these solutions are contributions from Switzerland’s private sector, while others come from the Swiss cooperation programme with North Macedonia.
Switzerland, recognized as a leading example in Europe for achieving high environmental
standards, aims to convey a key message the festival:
It is the responsibility of the entire
society—from state institutions to the private sector and civil society—to inspire and equip
young people to tackle today’s environmental challenges. Switzerland in North Macedonia
has actively supported youth engagement over the years through formal education
processes, civil sector mobilization, startups, and more.
Following the exhibition, the festival will continue with a few musical performances starting at 20:30, featuring artists from both North Macedonia and Switzerland. Entry to the event is a symbolic gesture toward environmental awareness: a single empty plastic bottle, an empty can, or an installed Pakomak application. The lineup includes performances by the North Macedonian band Moira, as well as Igor Dzambazov and Guru Hare. From Switzerland, the stage will be graced by Orfia and DJ Alex Nantaya.
This exhibition and concert are part of the broader celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and North Macedonia, with Pakomak and Makstil as the main partners.
Meet the Swiss Artists:
- Loris Cappellini (Orphina): A 24-year-old artist from the independent music scene in Geneva, Orphia’s music is a mesmerizing blend of electronic cold wave, inspired by the golden era of krautrock. His debut EP, *L'Aventure des Gens Modernes*, combines cold wave, post-punk, and synth-pop, drawing comparisons to Depeche Mode. His latest single, *Nuit Vellie*, is already making waves in Switzerland and francophone countries.

Donna Alexia Nantaya Zamaros (DJ Alex Nantaya): At 26, DJ Alex Nantaya is at the peak of her career, performing on some of Switzerland’s biggest stages like Nordstern, D! Club, and Le Zoo/Usine. With a background in music conservatory, her groove techno sets have made her a standout in the electronic music scene.

Meet the domestic artists:
- Moira: A young band from North Macedonia, Moira is the brainchild of Jasna Trpkova and Darko Jovanov. They create a unique sound by blending trumpet, piano, guitar, saxophone, trombone, double bass, percussion, and electronic elements. Their music, described as organized chaos, includes original songs like *Aroma(n)ticna* from their upcoming album.
